Trees at 3,200 Feet in the Boise Foothills
Tree Service in Avimor is shaped by where the community sits. Avimor is a master-planned community and census-designated place on the northern edge of Ada County, in the Boise Foothills. Idaho Highway 55 forms its western boundary, Boise County borders it to the northeast, and it lies about 8 miles northeast of Eagle and 15 miles north of Boise. At about 3,220 feet, it is roughly 500 feet higher than downtown Boise, and the surrounding land is open sagebrush and grass rather than irrigated farm ground.
Young landscapes, exposed sites
Avimor is a newer community. It was first listed as a census-designated place before the 2020 census, when it had 1,255 residents. Most landscape trees here are young and were planted into graded, exposed lots. That combination brings a predictable set of problems: wind-tilted trees, trunks with sunscald on the southwest side, roots that never spread beyond the original planting hole, and limbs left low because no one has pruned them yet. All of these are easier to fix at five years than at twenty.
Fire-wise thinking on the edge of open land
Homes that back onto wildland grass and brush benefit from the same principles used across the foothills: keep dead material out of the area around the house, remove the low ladder-fuel branches that let a grass fire climb into a tree, keep tree crowns from touching the roof, and avoid stacking brush or firewood against structures. When we prune in Avimor, we keep those goals in mind and haul away what we cut rather than leaving it in a pile.
Watering on a slope
Many foothill lots are graded on slopes, and water from a sprinkler or drip line runs downhill before it soaks in. Trees on the uphill side of a lot often get less water than they seem to, while those at the bottom can sit wet. A slow, deep soak, spread over the area under the outer branches rather than right at the trunk, does more for a young tree than frequent short cycles. If a tree's leaves scorch at the edges every July while the lawn below it stays green, watering is the first thing to check.
Residents who want low-maintenance yards
Avimor's 2020 median age was 51.2, older than most of the valley. The community is built around open space, with more than 100 miles of trails and 13 community parks, and many owners want trees that provide shade without becoming a constant job. Choosing species that suit a dry, windy, higher-elevation site, and pruning them for structure early, keeps maintenance low over time.

Avimor Questions
Why are the trees in my Avimor yard leaning?
Exposed foothill lots get steady wind, and young trees with small root systems tilt before they anchor. Some can be corrected with loose staking for a season. Others are better replaced while still small.
What can I do to make my trees less of a fire risk?
Remove dead branches, prune low limbs that connect grass to the canopy, keep branches off the roof and away from vents, and do not leave brush piles near the house. We can do that work and haul the material away.
Is Avimor too far out for a tree service visit?
No. Avimor is within our service area along Highway 55. Call with your address and we will schedule a free estimate.
Does my HOA need to approve tree removal in Avimor?
Check your community's governing documents and design guidelines before removing or replacing a tree. Many planned communities require approval for changes to landscaping visible from the street. We can provide a written description of the tree's condition if the HOA asks for one.
